European Union SAMBO Cup in Riga Brings Together Over 300 Athletes
The European Union SAMBO Cup took place on 13 September in Riga, Latvia. More than 300 SAMBO athletes from eight European countries competed for medals at the sports complex in the Latvian capital.

Athletes from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands, England, Finland, and Poland took part in the tournament. Throughout the competition day, bouts were held in various age and weight categories in both Sport and Combat SAMBO – featuring both youth and senior athletes.

Organizers noted that the tournament showcased a high level of skill among the participants and highlighted the growing interest in SAMBO across European Union countries. For many young athletes, it was their first international experience, while for experienced competitors it served as an important step on the road to upcoming European and World Championships.

“The European Union SAMBO Cup continues to strengthen its position as an annual sporting event that contributes to the development and promotion of SAMBO in Europe. Work is already underway to organize the next edition, which is expected to be held at an even higher level,” – said Viktors Reshko, Secretary General of the Latvian SAMBO Federation.
