The Athlete Biological Passport: What Is It and Why Should Every Athlete Understand It?

As sport continues to evolve, so do anti-doping efforts. Today, the fight against doping goes far beyond testing samples during competitions. It also relies on advanced scientific tools designed to protect clean athletes and detect potential violations, even long after they occur.

One of the most important of these tools is the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP).

What exactly is the Athlete Biological Passport? What biomarkers does it monitor? Why is it considered one of the most effective anti-doping tools available today? And what should athletes know about how it works?

Answers to these questions and many more will be provided during the next edition of the International Testing Agency’s (ITA) educational webinar series, *Ask the Expert*.
